Game 3...this was going to test us! It was going to test our determination. It was going to test our drive and it was going to test our ability to work as a team! At 1:25 our Steelheads faced off in the Silverstick semifinals against Mitchell.
The first period would be relatively uneventful with both teams trying their best to get that first goal on the board. It wouldn't be until the second that Mitchell finally cracked goaltender Cooper McClement to give Mitchell the 1-0 lead in the second. The Steelheads dug in their heels wanting that goal back. As the period wound down Nixon Brown got he Steelheads up on the score board. Mitchell would however answer right back quickly and end the period up 2-1 on the Steelheads.
Knowing the outcome of this game determined the finals set for Sunday both teams wanted the win bad! Mitchell would carry the lead for most of the period that is until Jaxx Lester beat the Mitchell net-minder with just two minutes left in the game. Steelheads tied up the game!! We would head into OT for a tense ten minutes. Both teams battled, the Steelheads defended off a penality kill, Max Crawford seen some open ice and skated the puck up and was able to get the shot off. The Mitchell net-minder let out the rebound and Lester was there to put the puck in the back of the net!! The crowd went wild with excitement and the boys celebrated the hard fought win. The win that will send them to the Silverstick Finals Sunday at 12:30 againist the Saugeen Shore Storm!
Way to go boys! Let's do it again tomorrow!
